چکیده

During roution dissection classes in 2011 in the Department of Anatomy, an anomalous insertion of the tibialis anterior tendon was observed on the left side of a formalin-fixed cadaver of a middle aged man without any trace of scars, adhesions or signs of trauma or operation. The insertion of the tibialis anterior tendon was on medial cuneiform only by one slip. The tibialis anterior is an important muscle because of its function and its use in tendon transfer as a treatment of recurrent congenital clubfoot and paralytic equinovarus foot deformities in cerebral palsy and arthroscopy. Morphology of the tibialis anterior muscle is important for its implications in minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis of tibial fractures. The insertion of the tendon of the tibialis anterior muscle may be related to pathologic changes of the foot and in particular, hallux valgus. Morphologic data should enable evaluation of such a relationship and perhaps offer a basis for improved therapy.

0463 - Changes in Subtalar Joint Moment Arms following Split Tendon Transfers of Tibialis Anterior and Tibialis Posterior

INTRODUCTION Split tendon transfers of tibialis anterior (TA) or tibialis posterior (TP) are commonly performed to correct varus deformity of the hindfoot in patients with cerebral palsy, stroke, and brain injury. Both of these procedures involve detaching half of the tendon from its medial insertion and reattaching laterally such that the muscle acts as a balanced yoke that neither inverts nor...

New method for fixation point of tibialis posterior tendon transfer

Background: The transfer of the tibialis posterior tendon to the dorsum of foot can restore the function of the paralyzed dorsiflexor muscles of the foot and ankle. In order to reduce the wound complication in the insertion site of tendon to bone by a plantar knop we used a new method of fixation by an absorbable screw inserted dorsally. Methods: we performed this operation on 15 patients in...

Anatomical Footprint of the Tibialis Anterior Tendon: Surgical Implications for Foot and Ankle Reconstructions

This study aimed to analyze precisely the dimensions, shapes, and variations of the insertional footprints of the tibialis anterior tendon (TAT) at the medial cuneiform (MC) and first metatarsal (MT1) base. Forty-one formalin-fixed human cadaveric specimens were dissected. After preparation of the TAT footprint, standardized photographs were made and the following parameters were evaluated: the...
